HISTORY

EThe Museum of Lluc was inaugurated in 1952, and originally centred mainly on the Archaeology section. In 1971, Antonio Mulet donated his collections from Ca´n Mulet in Génova to the Museum. As a result the museum increased considerably in size, and thanks to these donations of local costumes, pottery, religious images, traditional furniture, jewellery and paintings, became the museum with the largest collection dedicated to the popular culture of the Balearic Islands.

In 1984 the museum expanded with the addition of a considerable acquisition of modern art and sculpture, which was further extended to include a room dedicated to the work of Josep Coll Bardolet who made 2 donations of his works in 1989 and 1995.

The Sala Bujosa Rosselló was created in 2004 to display Mallorcan textiles, as well as the objects and machinery from this family firm.
